Lady Braves Take First Win as Jayla Mia Continues to Grow

The Locust Grove Lady Braves kicked off their season with an exciting 10 to 9 victory, sealing the win with a clutch defensive play at home plate. It was a big moment for the team and a promising start to their season.

Eighth grader Jayla Mia continued to show her growth as a player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. Her hustle and focus stood out all game as she held it down at third base, showing confidence and steady improvement every time she took the field.

This is only Jayla’s second season playing softball, but her mindset is already on the next level. She’s focused on learning, staying consistent, and helping her team compete at their best.

“Every game is a chance to get better,” Jayla said. “I just want to keep working hard and do what I can to help my team win.”

With players like Jayla Mia leading with effort and determination, the Lady Braves are showing that their season is just getting started and the best is yet to come.

With her season for the Locust Grove Lady Braves complete, Jayla Mia is already putting in the work to prepare for the next level. Her focus has shifted to training for her upcoming freshman year, and she is fully committed to becoming a stronger, more confident player.Jayla is now working with Coach Stantrel Smith, a respected hitting instructor based in McDonough, Georgia. Coach Smith, known as The Hit Master, specializes in swing mechanics, timing, power development, and the mental side of hitting. His training approach is designed to help athletes reach their full potential at the plate.During her sessions, Jayla is refining her swing, improving her timing, and developing a mindset built on consistency and growth. Her goal is simple, to step onto the high school field ready to compete and contribute right away.“I’m excited for what’s ahead,” Jayla said. “I want to keep getting better, keep pushing myself, and get ready for freshman year so I can help my team win.”Drawing from the same discipline she shows in dance and Taekwondo, Jayla is attacking this offseason with focus and purpose.
