West Orange outlasted Old Tappan 49 to 44 in overtime on Sunday afternoon.
Old Tappan trailed 13 to 12 after one quarter and led 24 to 22 at halftime. The teams stayed close through three. West Orange forced overtime with a strong fourth quarter and closed the game with a 10 to 5 edge in the extra period.
Sienna Drullinsky led Old Tappan with 13 points, scoring consistently inside. Alexa Caunedo added 11 points and helped steady the offense late. Alivia Badurina scored eight points, including two three pointers. Nina Caunedo and Mauimi Quiros each knocked down key shots from deep.
Joley Giordano brought pace and energy on both ends. She pushed tempo, defended multiple spots, and helped organize possessions during long defensive stretches.
West Orange leaned on London Caldwell, who finished with 25 points and three steals. Rhyan Watt added 16 points and eight rebounds, controlling the glass in overtime. West Orange won the rebound battle on the stat sheet and converted at the line late to seal the win.
Old Tappan moved to 2 and 1. West Orange improved to 3 and 1.
