Biography:
Jovani Haskins, class 2016 is a gifted two-sport athlete from Bergenfield High School in New Jersey, made a name for himself as a standout in both basketball and football. Known for his versatility, athleticism, and competitive drive, Haskins excelled on the court as a high-scoring forward/center and on the gridiron as a dynamic do everything player. His ability to dominate in two physically demanding sports earned him recognition as one of Bergenfield’s premier athletes during his time in high school.
Basketball:
Jovani, 6-foot-4 forward/center was a pivotal figure in the school's historic 2015 basketball season. As a junior during the 2014–2015 season, he averaged almost 20 points per game. In a crucial playoff matchup against Colonia, Haskins demonstrated his composure by making all eight of his fourth-quarter free throws, six of which came in the final minute, contributing to a narrow 52–51 victory that propelled Bergenfield to the Group 3 state final .
The 2015 season culminated in Bergenfield's first state championship since 1945. The Bears secured the North I Group III sectional title with a 71–69 win over Teaneck and went on to clinch the Group III state title with an 80–72 overtime victory against Ewing High School. This triumph marked Bergenfield's inaugural appearance in the Tournament of Champions, solidifying the team's place in school history.
