David Brennan earned MVP honors at the Jack Reilly Tournament after leading Old Tappan to three straight wins and a championship at Fort Lee.
Old Tappan finished 3 and 0 in the tournament. Brennan set the tone in every round. He scored efficiently, controlled pace, and delivered in late-game moments.
In the first round against Passaic, Brennan scored 14 points to lead all Old Tappan scorers in a 53 to 44 win. He scored in rhythm and helped build separation during a decisive second quarter.
In the semifinal win over North Bergen, Brennan raised his level. He finished with 17 points in a 61 to 54 victory. He scored off the dribble, knocked down free throws, and answered each run as North Bergen pushed late.
Brennan saved his best performance for the championship game against Randolph. He scored 23 of Old Tappan’s 46 points in a 46 to 41 win. He attacked mismatches, hit key shots, and went 7 for 8 at the free throw line to close the game. His scoring accounted for half of Old Tappan’s offense in the final.
Across three games, Brennan led the team in scoring twice and was the focal point of every opposing defense. Old Tappan relied on his composure in close games and his ability to score at all three levels.
Behind Brennan’s tournament run, Old Tappan captured the Jack Reilly Tournament title. Brennan’s consistency, leadership, and production made him the clear choice for tournament MVP.
